PERSONAL WEB STUFF

My personal MySpace page for networking.

My ComicSpace page...also for networking.

My JacketFlap page....yep...more networking.

Aint-It-Cool -- Major source of entertainment news.  As Prof. Challenger I contribute commentary, interviews, and reviews for the AICN Comics section.

IMWAN -- Messageboard with a light touch

FRIENDS

Christopher Paul Carey -- Author and friend who edits FARMERPHILE magazine and contributed to MYTHS FOR THE MODERN AGE.

Comic Pants -- Fun comics review site run by fellow Central Texan Randy Lander and featuring buds Dave Farabee & Dan Grendell.

David Hopkins -- Texas comic book writer.  Creator of one of my favorite all-ages comics, EMILY EDISON.   If you haven't tried, you should.

Geoff Johns -- My favorite current comic book writer.  Currently writer on GREEN LANTERN, THE JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA, and ACTION COMICS (co-writing with SUPERMAN director Richard Donner) for DC Comics.

Javier Grillo-Marxuach -- Author and friend who created and writes THE MIDDLEMAN for Viper Comics, SUPER SKRULL for Marvel Comics, and currently produces and writes for MEDIUM on NBC.

Kristian Horn -- Superb cartoonist and fellow AICN reviewer.

Matt Haley -- Fantastic artist and co-creator of G.I. SPY.

Philip Jose' Farmer -- Nebula, Hugo, and Grandmaster Award-winning science-fiction author.  Oh, and also my personal favorite.

Rich Johnston -- The most hated man in comics.  So hated that his fictional death was the subject of a seemingly never-ending C.S.I. mini-series.  He is the writer of the long-running LYING IN THE GUTTERS rumor column and even wrote one of my favorite comics of 2006 -- THE FLYING FRIAR (yes, that's my quote on the page from aintitcoolnews.

Rick Lundeen's Epoch Comics -- Cool writer, artist, and all-around great guy.

K.G. McAbee -- Award-winning writer of fantasy, science fiction, YA fantasy, horror, pulp, historical fiction and more.  Click on her name and check out her site with many opportunities to purchase her work.

PUBLISHERS

AIT/PlanetLar -- An independent source for quality black and white graphic novels.

Archie Comics -- Archie, Jughead, Betty, Veronica, Reggie, Moose, Mr. Weatherbee, Hot Dog...  They're all still around and going strong with fun comics for kids and teens.

Big Bang Comics -- A loveletter to the style of the Golden and Silver ages of comic books but with modern production qualities.

Moonstone Books -- Premiere source for new takes on classic pulp action and adventure.

Oni Press -- Another great independent publisher of quality black and white comics and graphic novels.  Of which, the all-ages BANANA SUNDAY and POLLY AND THE PIRATES are my daughter's favorites.

Papercutz -- Superb young publisher of graphic novels for teens and tweens.  We're talking Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew type stuff...and they're cool.

Subterranean Press -- Publisher of my books, THE BEST OF PHILIP JOSE' FARMER and PEARLS FROM PEORIA and a slew of fantastic and eclectic product.

TwoMorrows -- Best publisher of comics-related magazines and books such as THE JACK KIRBY COLLECTOR, BACK ISSUE!, ROUGH STUFF, ALTER EGO, THE ALL-STAR COMPANION, and THE JUSTICE LEAGUE COMPANION.

Viper Comics -- Publisher of THE MIDDLEMAN and EMILY EDISON, two of my favorite comics.  Beyond those two, this Texas publisher puts a ton of outstanding professional product on the comic and book shelves across this country.

Wildcat Books -- Another great source for new and classic pulp adventure.

TALK RADIO

Alan Colmes -- He may be flaming liberal, but he's my favorite all-time talk-radio host.  He's also the first guy to post some of my art online waaaaaayyyyyyy back when he had his nationally syndicated show on TalkNet and MajorTalk.  Anybody but me remember the short-lived pre-HANNITY & COLMES radio show where Alan and Barry Farber would go at each other?  Alan's simply the only liberal I've ever heard on radio that is legitimately funny and entertaining enough to enjoy on a daily basis and it's a travesty that his radio presence right now is buried in the middle of the night on Fox News Radio.

Barry Farber -- Old-school charm and a love for language.  He doesn't run local to me anymore but I get a thrill everytime he pops up as a guest-host for one of our the syndicated hosts on our local stations.

B-1 Bob Dornan -- He doesn't appear to be on the air anymore, but my first exposure to B-1 Bob was some fifteen years ago when he was the regular guest-host for Rush Limbaugh.  Outspoken conservative Congressman and bottom-tier Presidential candidate whose persona was a real throwback to a different age of American politics.  Tons of fun to listen to even when I could only listen through streaming audio on-line.

Clark Howard -- Guru of American consumerism.  Great resource for consumer-friendly options in spending, credit, savings, and investing.

Don & Mike -- Don Geronimo and Mike O'Meara are simply the funniest comedy team on the radio. When they were carried locally there were times I would nearly have to pull the car over because I was laughing so hard.  Low-budget Jeopardy! Ha!  Thanks to the wonder of the Internet I can now subscribe to the podcast of their daily show.  Don took a well-deserved hiatus from radio in April 2008 and will be greatly missed.  Godspeed Michael Sorce.

George Noory (Coast-to-Coast AM) -- Art Bell's shockingly entertaining overnight program devoted to the weird and bizarre.  Now ably hosted by George Noory who brings an astounding level of pure gullibility wrapped in intelligent-sounding dialogue and debate.  Perfect entertainment when insomnia hits.

G. Gordon Liddy -- Not on the air anymore that I can tell, but I always found his show a lot of fun and slightly insane.  What else should you expect from the man best known for masterminding the Watergate break-in and now has the balls to drive a car with the license plate "H2O-GATE" on it.

Hank Hanegraff, The Bible Answer Man -- Smart, lucid, and well-reasoned discussions highlight Hank's great low-key radio show fielding questions on wide-ranging topics related to the Bible and related topics.

Jerry Doyle -- My exposure to Jerry is limited to his many guest-hosting stints and navigating his website, but I think he's a solid independent conservative with a great radio presence and voice.  Plus, his performance as Garibaldi on BABYLON 5 is a classic.

Kim Komando -- Great source for computer and web-related info.

Laura Ingraham -- Uniquely smart and funny radio show touching on politics and popular culture.

Mary Matalin -- Her radio show has not existed for a good ten years now, but I always thorougly enjoyed her show.  As opposed to her competition, the pace of her show was always slow and steady rather than bombastic and clipped.  It was a nice change from the usual, but didn't last.

Michael Medved -- I tune him in occasionally from a station nearly out of reception area and generally enjoy his show.  He can be rather strident and obtuse at times, but he does seem to be having fun and that goes a long way.

Mike O'Meara -- After over 20 years as partner with radio god Don Geronimo, Mike is out on his own sink or swim show.  I'm a daily podcast downloader and I love what he's doing with the new show.

Neal Boortz -- The High Priest of the Church of the Painful Truth.  Libertarian loudmouth.  One of the smartest guys on radio and always fun to listen to.

Rush Limbaugh -- Regardless of your views on what he says, it is undeniable that he is the greatest radio broadcasting personality of all time.  Everyone else are either pilot-fish latching on and riding his fame to their own fortune or sad wannabes.

Rusty Humphries -- He's not carried locally anymore, but he's just a kick to listen to because of his pure unadulterated enthusiasm.

Tammy Bruce -- I've only been exposed to her through her guest-hosting gigs, but she's really good and unique in that her background is one of liberalism, so her responses are not knee-jerk conservative but nicely independent.

Tom Leykis -- A foul human being who carved himself a niche on radio doing what, I guess, could basically be categorized as mysoginist-radio.  Coast-to-Coast gives voice to the nuts out there.  Tom Leykis gives voice to the creeps.

KLBJ -- Local Fox affiliate.

KJCE -- Local CBS Radio affiliate.
